"Do you think it was a good idea to add the chapters about Walt (Chris’ father) and Krakauer as individuals? What did it do for you for your views of the novel? Did anything change your opinion or did it support what you already thought? Why?"

I think it was a great idea that Krakauer added the chapters about the father and himself because it is always better to know more than one side of a story, what made these people the way they are. I understood more why Chris didn't respect his father, but I felt as though Krakauer made out Walt how he felt about his own father. There were a lot of similarities and I think Krakauer realized this.

  1. Yea I definetly agree with you,i think Krakauer may have superinposed his feelings for his father onto Walt...but he probably was aware of that as well. It does give more creedance to his telling of Chris's story though

  2. I agree, I think that knowing about Krakauer's past adds to his credibility as an author. As far as Chris finding out about his father it does give the reader some explanation behind Chris' motivation.

  3. This part of the story is a little bit slow because we want to be reading about Chris and not Krakauer but this part also helps explain Chris' emotions and why Chris did not give up out in the wild and try to get rescued.
